My little girls love the equestrian centre, they love horses and it's hardly surprising, they've grown up alongside them their whole lives!
They also love their Nintendo DSs, so last week my sister came around with these fantastic games for them with suited them to an absolute 'T'!
One of them was The Whitaker Family Presents: Horse Life, and the other was My Horse And Me, they were just perfect for the girls!

We uploaded them to the girls' R4 cards straight away so that they could both play both games whenever they wanted, and they were absolutely over the moon.
Now they can look after their virtual horses and do all the caring for them that they're too young to do with our real horses just yet! It's great that they're so interested, and we don't push it on them at all, it's up to them!

I know people like to look stylish, and with events like Ascot people associate horse riding and horse sports with glamour and style. But if you're taking part, you always need to think of comfort over any style or fashion ideals you may have.

It's simple: when taking part in an equestrian sport, dress sensibly and comfortably, don't wear your nicest designer clothes. We had a poor lady come in last week dolled up to the nines, but a few minutes into horse riding she realised she'd ripped her rather expensive looking womens designer jeans and completely ruined them. They were really tight fitting skinny jeans, so they must've been just too restrictive for horse riding.
There are plenty of places that sell appropriate horse riding clothing, mainly trousers, and you can wear whatever top you like. Just do your research and be sensible!

Sometimes it's best to outsource certain responsibilities in a business to someone who can do a better job. That's why we have accountants, surveyors, and so on.
Well, here at the centre we've had a company managing all our money and investments for a while, but we're starting to wonder whether or not we really need them any more.

The company - Rowan Dartington - are mainly a stock broking and investment company who handle private wealth, and they've been great with us. But in the name of making life less complicated and trying to keep everything we can in-house, would we be better off doing it on our own?
The real question is: could we manage it on our own? Some in the office are pretty confident that we could, and some are not so sure. It would be nice to keep it in-house, but I think when it comes to finance, you can never be too careful!

You may have noticed that recently our system has been suffering from a variety of problems of late. This is due to our bandwidth being absolutely stuffed to the rafters and not being able to cope with the constant high demand.
Now on one way of looking at it, this means that the site is going from strength to strength and it can kind of be viewed as a positive thing. It at least shows that there is an avid interest in the site and that there is indeed a constant stream of traffic. However, the bad thing is that it keeps on crashing. The more often that this happens and the less people that can access the site due to technical error then the quicker that this new found interest in the site will be lost.
I’m wanting to get some funding together in order to pay for a brand new Content Delivery Network which would help us to keep our site online and manage some of the problems that we have been facing. This does however cost money so I am looking to branch out into advertising on the site to cover costs. If you are interested in advertising with us please get in touch to discuss a quote and what we can offer you in terms of coverage.

Horse racing has been around for centuries in one form or the other. From the Roman chariot races, to the royal Ascot race, horse racing has seen many changes but in essence and spirit it remains the same.
In all these years of horse racing, the other thing that remains constant is the rider/jockey. The jockey is the factor supreme in a race. However great a horse, however pure its breeding, if the jockey is not worth his salt, then the horse will not place, leave alone win.
Except for a few occasions when people have transcended the sport and caught the imagination of the spectator public, the jockeys have invariably remained behind the scenes. One of the reasons probably is that these riders are predominantly freelancers and are not usually involved with the same horse for a long time.
But it is the undeniable fact that the jockeys indeed determine the fortunes of a horse and its owners. They control the horse not through force but through gentle nudges and sometimes through sheer will power. The skilled use of the bridle and the spur is very important in a race. The jockey also needs to ride light and thus there are weight limits in every race. Even though there are no limits on the height of a jockey, they are predominantly short ranging from 5 feet to 5 feet 7 inches, with the latter being considered very tall.
Thus with years of training and various restrictions on the body, the jockey gets that chance at glory, but only as the companion of the horse that won it.
